The Platinum Jubilee
Crown your summer with a trip to London. This year, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne: the first monarch of the UK to do so. And you can celebrate in style. The Jubilee itself will be celebrated with a four-day weekend, from Thursday, June 2 through Sunday, June 5th. Find all the amazing public events taking place across the country at https://platinumjubilee.gov.uk/events/ and check out VisitBritain.com
for a comprehensive Jubilee guide.
The Tower of London might have a grisly past, but it’s gore no more with the Superbloom at the Tower of London. Twenty million seeds were sown in the moat earlier this spring, and in summer, they will bloom in glorious splendor. This effort doesn’t just celebrate the Queen, but it also creates a beautiful meadow in the center of the city aimed to attract pollinators and diverse wildlife. Check out the flowery heights of Superbloom from June 1 to September 18.
Even after the Jubilee is over, the royal festivities continue. In July, visit the official London home of the UK’s sovereigns by exploring the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace. After being wowed by regal portraits and glittering tiaras, enjoy a private tour of the palace’s exquisite gardens.
